Instructions for building a bat house recommended painting the house black to increase solar warmth during the winter months of hibernation. Rolling black paint over a surface reminded me of printmaking, so I decided to make a woodcut print before assembling and installing the house on the exterior of my studio. The coordinates of the studio are engraved into the image. The print was distributed by mail to Undecimals participants; a mail art exchange group I’ve been part of for a number of years. I hope to install an electronic bat monitor in the future.
